Cuca
Cuca (from Portuguese), also known as The Cuc is a female monster from Brazilian folklore.
Cuca is an ugly old alligator that eats disobedient children. There is a very popular lullaby in Brazil about it:
Sleep, baby,
Because the Cuca wants to take you
Daddy go to the garden
Mummy come straight back
Apart from the lullaby, the monster remains popular today only as a literary character of books by Monteiro Lobato and by television programs for children Sítio do Picapau Amarelo.
